Our accredited skills training program and learnership is designed for unemployed individuals seeking to enter the garment manufacturing industry, either as entrepreneurs or job seekers.

What Topics Are Covered?

The course focuses on practical and entrepreneurial competencies, including understanding and using commercial sewing patterns, constructing garments with a lockstitch sewing machine, and mastering processes such as cutting, sewing, finishing, and inspecting garments. Participants will also gain business knowledge, from registering a business or cooperative and utilising social media marketing to setting up a clothing alteration service.

The program introduces essential concepts like supply and demand, production principles, and customer engagement, while emphasising adherence to industry quality standards in garment construction, finishing, and storage. Additionally, learners will develop workplace readiness and the ability to effectively meet customer needs, negotiate pricing, and manage delivery requirements, preparing them for a successful future in the garment manufacturing sector.
